Legion Way Wood Removal

February 1, 2012

WHEN WILL THE WOOD BE CLEANED UP?

The City’s urban forester has assessed storm damage to Legion Way trees.  Ten to twelve trees are slated for removal from storm damage.

Here’s the schedule for Legion Way tree work, if all goes as planned this week:

Wednesday, February 1.

9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – City contractor will finish work on Legion between Boundary and Central (road closed)

If that work is finished early enough in the day, they will start to work on Legion between Plum and Quince (road closed)

Also on Wednesday, a contractor for PSE will be clearing branches from lines on the north side of Legion between the Armory and Plum.  One lane may be closed at times.  They will have a flagger present.

Thursday, February 2.

9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. –  City contractor working on Legion between Eastside and Plum (road closed).

Friday, February 3.

City contractor will be removing large broken limbs on Legion in front of Madison Elementary on this schedule:

         9:00 a.m. – Noon. Legion will be closed at the east side of the entrance to the Madison Elementary School parking lot to Boundary Street.  School buses and other vehicles can enter and exit the parking lot from Eastside Street.

         Noon – 4:00 p.m.  Legion will be closed at the west side of the entrance to Madison Elementary parking lot to Eastside Street. School buses and other vehicles can enter and exit the parking lot from Boundary Street.

Thanks to everyone for their patience while we remove damaged trees and limbs.

CAN WE TAKE THE WOOD?

Several people have called City Hall to ask if they can take the wood we are cutting on Legion Way.  The answer is “no.”

Because of safety concerns, no one other than the contractors or staff should be in the closed areas while work is taking place.  Also, the City may have a use for the Legion Way wood.  We will be taking it to a central location and will decide later on how to reuse any of the Legion Way wood.
