1. This is a sign that was recently
posted on the front door of a downtown
Olympia apartment building. It reads:
PLEASE DON’T LEAVE
PHONE BOOKS
In the last 12 months this
21-unit apartment building
has received over 65
phone books.
We have enough. We
don’t want any more.
2. This is a pile of brand-new phone
books. There were 23 of them, including
a few not in the photo, each in its own
plastic bag.
Last year, the City of Seattle
created an opt-out system – like the
anti-telemarketing Do Not Call list – to
crack down on unwanted phone books.
Perhaps we need that system in Olympia.
(And yes, OP&L is also dropped all
over town, but we don’t put it anywhere
someone doesn’t want it.)
