Incident: Superman and A Lady Friend Walk in to A Gay Bar . . .

Olympia Police were summoned to Jake’s on Fourth to investigate reports of an assault that occurred in front of the establishment. When OPD officers arrived all of the involved parties had left the scene, but witnesses stated that an older white male had been pushed by a younger white male, from the sidewalk into the path of a moving car traveling eastbound on 4th Avenue. The car’s hood struck the man causing him to fall to the ground. Witnesses stated that as the man attempted to get himself up off of the street a woman came up behind him and punched him in the back of the head and then retreated back into the crowd.

As the Police continued to speak with witnesses gathered outside of Jake’s, they received a dispatch call indicating that the victim of the attack had just called from U.S. Bank to report that he had just been, “assaulted by a male known on the streets as ‘Superman.’” The victim was not able to provide a description or legal name of either Superman or his accomplice (Lois Lane?), except that Superman is a drug dealer who attacked him for an unknown reason.

The victim told police that he would be able to identify Superman if he saw them but did not want to do a walk through of the area with the OPD for fear of being known as a “snitch”. Officers then offered to drive the victim to the front of Jake’s to see if he could identify either of his assailants from the safety of the car, which the victim agreed to. However, neither Superman nor his lady friend were spotted outside.

Based on the victim’s account and his cumulative experience policing downtown, one of the responding OPD officers believed that he had an idea of who Superman was and personally scoured the inside of Jake’s as well as the surrounding area but was not able to locate either suspect. Witnesses and members of the crowd inside and outside of Jake’s were then questioned as to whether they knew who Superman or his accomplice were or where they may be, but to no avail. At this time, the assailants true identities and whereabouts are unknown.

Incident: Motel 6 Package Deal

A female employee at a Motel 6 reported to police that a white male in his 40’s had repeatedly exposed himself to her and followed her around the building during her evening shift.

According to the police report the man had first approached the woman through the night-time walkup window located next to the lobby. When the woman came to the window the man asked, “Do you have any kids?” The woman replied that she had laundry to do and closed the window before returning to her work.

Shortly thereafter the employee heard a knock at the employee break room door. When she answered the door she saw the same man standing outside of the lobby door, this time with his penis exposed out of the top of his pants. The woman then called police.

While the employee waited for police to respond, the man continued to walk about, “with his penis exposed the entire time,” as he went up to the night window, back to the break room door, and then back around to the lobby again.

When the woman gave her account of the events and the description of the suspect to the responding TPD officer, it fit the profile of a man known to frequent the area. Nearby units were advised of the suspects name, appearance and attire, and approximate location and he was quickly located a short distance away.

The suspect, who was visibly intoxicated, admitted to being at the Motel 6 that evening, but insisted it was only to check on room rates. He then added that he had urinated across the street, but that he didn’t think the Motel 6 employee would have seen from that far away.

The suspect was booked on suspicion of one count of a Lewd Act.
